South Plains College's president has been named one of three finalists for president of New Mexico Junior College.
Kelvin Sharp will meet with board members, faculty, students and members of the community on the campus in Hobbs on Feb. 23.
Vincent Solis, vice president for instruction and student services at Laredo Community College will visit the campus Feb. 24.
Meetings with Thad Anglin will be held on Feb. 25. He is vice provost for academic excellence and outreach at the University of North Texas at Dallas.
The board of New Mexico Junior College is expected to make a decision by March 17.

Thad Anglin, Ed.D. - the Vice Provost for Academic Excellence and Outreach at the University of North Texas at Dallas, TX, since 2013. Dr. Sharp received a Bachelor of Science in Physics and Mathematics from Chadron State College, NE and a Master of Arts in Mathematics and a Doctorate of Education in Higher Education Administration from Texas Tech University, TX.
Vincent Solis, Ed.D. - the Vice President for Instruction and Student Services at Laredo Community College, TX since 2014. Previously, he served as the Vice President of Student Services at Laredo Community College, TX from 2. Dr. Solis received a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and Sociology, a Master of Science in Psychology, and a Doctorate of Education in Bilingual Education from Texas A & M – Kingsville, TX.
Each presidential finalist will participate in open public forums February 23 - 25. There will be a brief introduction of each candidate followed by a question and answer session. Because of time constraints, all questions must be submitted in advance to one of the Vice-Presidents at the forum. A survey will be given to all who attend, and the surveys will be collected at the end of each forum and delivered to the Board to be included in their deliberations.
The community forums will be held each day from 2:45pm – 3:20pm in the Western Heritage Museum Theater:
* Tuesday, February 23 – Dr. Kelvin Sharp
* Wednesday, February 24 – Dr. Vincent Solis
* Thursday, February 25 – Dr. Thad Anglin
The candidates will also meet with the NMJC Board, Vice-Presidents, faculty, staff and students before and after these community forums. In addition, they will be given tours of the college, Hobbs and Lea County.
