LEDA, Workforce Solutions South Plains, and the Texas Workforce Commission awarded $165,000 for area school districts' career and technical education programs.
It's part of the South Plains high demand job training project, which is set to go into effect this school year and will train about 230 students in many different fields - from automotive technician to IT, welders, nurses and repair technicians.
The Workforce Commission says it's an investment into the future.
"the equipment, curriculum, and the programs being built with this investment will go a long way in inspiring and equipping them with the skills and knowledge that they'll need," said Texas Workforce Commission chairman, Andrew Alcantar.
Frenship, Idalou, Lubbock, Lubbock-Cooper, Ralls, Slaton, and Shallowater ISD's will all be benefiting from this grant.
This is the second time TWC has given this grant in this area.
