American Bar Association president speaks of 'justice gap' at Tech law school

The American Bar Association's president, William Hubbard, spoke at Texas Tech's School of Law, stressing the importance of advising the next generation of lawyers.

"There's this justice gap in America so many of our poor don't have access to our justice system and more and more people of moderate means. What the ABA are trying to do is encourage lawyers to embrace new technologies and more innovative ways to provide legal services so we can be more responsive to the public and close this justice gap."

Hubbard was ABA president for the 2014-15 term, where he established the Commission on the Future of Legal Services. He's currently a partner of Nelson, Mullins, Riley and Scarborough in Columbia, South Carolina.

The event was put on by Tech Law's Academy for Leadership in the Legal Profession.
