Texas Tech University System holds ceremonial groundbreaking

Posted:

A new building already under construction for the Texas Tech University System.

A ceremonial groundbreaking was held for the three-story system office building at Tech Parkway and Marsha Sharp Freeway.

The building will house the chancellor's office, regents board room and offices for many core system functions including facilities planning and construction, institutional advancement and financial services.

"We're moving all of the system people that provide services for all the components and all the campuses throughout Texas into one building," Chancellor Robert Duncan said. "So we'll have more efficiencies there, but also free up space on the Texas Tech campus that's needed for academic space as well as student services."

The system officer building is expected to be completed by the first quarter of 2017.
