Still no word on the final recommendations for implementing campus carry on Tech's campus.
Chancellor Robert Duncan says the administration is still reviewing concepts and feedback from the preliminary rules before coming up with a final decision.
He says he expects another regents meeting anytime between now and May to solidify completed campus carry guidelines.
"Our challenge is to implement the law but also take the input," Duncan said, "and I think our faculty and staff have done a really good job of vetting those issues, doing a legal analysis on different ideas and trying to come up with rules that would reflect the university communities at each of our components as well as making sure that we're in compliance with the law."
The board is also getting a glimpse at the future for the Texas Tech System during the strategic planning discussion.
"We continue to monitor our numbers the metrics that we use to compare ourselves with our peers," Duncan said. "If you look at all four components of the Texas Tech University System, each one of the are reaching milestones and getting to greater heights than they've ever been, so it's an exciting time to be apart of the system."
The chancellor says the strategic planning priorities are crucial to see the direction Tech is heading.
