No one hurt in apartment fire near 82nd & Quaker

Ten residents at the Boulders at Lake Ridge apartment complex are displaced after a two-alarm fire.

Residents in the apartment building say they heard the smoke alarm go off around 5:30 this morning and placed a 911 call once they were outside.

Lubbock Fire Rescue reports crews responded about three minutes later with six engines and two trucks.

The Red Cross is providing assistance to eight of the displaced residents.

LFR investigators report the fire originated in an HVAC unit.

No one was hurt in a fire Monday morning at the Boulders at Lake ridge Apartments near 82nd Street and Quaker Avenue.

Battalion Chief Chris Addington said they were called around 5:30. First step was to get everyone out safely.

"We evacuated a total of 10, we're working with them and the Red Cross," Addington said. "We've got eight that are going to be displaced at this time."

Investigators say the fire was accidental. It started in an attic. There's no word on a specific cause yet.
