LUBBOCK, Texas -
The City of Wolfforth taught children an extremely important lesson with the hot summer months coming: water conservation. It's part of the South Plains Water Expo, which emphasizes water scarcity and using the area's limited water supply wisely.
Its theme this year was "save water every way, every day," emphasizing how to conserve water in the home and landscape, as well as rainwater harvesting.
"We don't have the budget to buy people showerheads, toilets, or anything like that," David Cooper, with the expo, said. "So, all we can do is encourage, and that's what we're trying to do, to try and get people to conserve. We're going to start with the low-hanging fruit: just get you in here and educate you on what you can do. It's all about you being responsible for yourself; you know, if we take care of ourselves, that will help."
Cooper said smartly conserving water can be as easy as turning off the faucet when shaving, and turning it on only to rinse.
