Body of missing woman found on remote road
Sharon Berry disappeared from her Roswell home April 28
Roswell, N.M. — The body of missing person Sharon Berry of Roswell was found in her pickup truck along a remote road about 14 miles east of Hagerman this morning (May 6). Ranchers on horseback in the area found the truck, the deceased 74-year-old woman, and her dog, which was alive, about 6:30 a.m. and notified authorities.
Berry, who suffered from dementia, disappeared eight days ago when she apparently took her small Pekingese dog and drove away from her house in the 1900 block of South Washington Avenue. Her son reported her missing Thursday, April 28, at about 6 p.m. She had last been seen earlier that afternoon at her house.
Berry’s disappearance began as a missing-person case with the Roswell Police Department. The investigation related to her death and the discovery of her body in the county area outside of the city is now being handled jointly by the Roswell Police Department and the Chaves County Sheriff’s Office. At this time, investigators do not suspect foul play in Berry’s disappearance and death.
Search efforts were conducted throughout the area following Berry’s disappearance. Various tips about her potential location or possible sightings were received during the days Berry was missing. Investigation based on each of those tips was conducted by RPD and other agencies.
The members of the Roswell Police Department and Chaves County Sheriff’s Office express their sympathies and condolences to the family of Sharon Berry, who was a member of RPD and CCSO years ago during her career in law enforcement.

Sharon Berry, 74, was last seen at her home in the 1900 block of South Washington Avenue at 1:30 p.m. Thursday.
She is 5'1" and weighs 77 pounds, with brown hair and brown eyes.
She is believed to be driving a white 2012 Toyota Tacoma pickup -- New Mexico plates LTC935. She was last seen wearing blue jeans and a black shirt.
Police report she likely has her puppy with her.
