LUBBOCK, Texas -
The Texas Hunger Initiative is partnering with the Texas Tech System and other Lubbock organizations in the fight to reduce hunger and poverty in Lubbock.
The 2nd Annual South Plains Hunger Summit held workshops to show perspectives on families affected by hunger, cases of poverty and way for the community to get involved in the struggle over food insecurity.
"We believe that hunger and poverty are too big for one organization to grasp by themselves," said Jeremy Everett, the director of Texas Hunger Initiative at Baylor. "And so what the Texas Hunger Initiative does for this particular region... is we bring everyone together that's doing something so we can do a better job of identifying where there are gaps so we can develop strategic plans as a community to address those gaps."
The event brought together non-profit leaders, educators, clergy and community members.
