LUBBOCK -
Debi Holland was arrested on Friday and is accused of having first hand knowledge that her special needs daughter, Holli Jeffcoat was being sexually assaulted by her husband and condoning it.
Ronny Lemmond said he was instrumental in helping his sister raise her daughter. He says he helped holli learn to walk, talk and eventually become the smart and talented teen she was.
She was an athlete, with a pure heart.
"She was in Special Olympics, I know she was famous out there with all of those guys," Lemmond said. "If she every caught you lying she would let you know right to your face like she was just this really honest genuine beautiful soul."
Jeffcoat was on track to graduate.
"Holli barely got her class ring in she was looking forward to go to prom just all those things she has to miss out on now."
Special needs student Holli Jeffcoat, 18, was found murdered in February, her throat slit and her uterus removed. According to court documents, Jeffcoat was 12 weeks pregnant.
"It just makes you cry you know, your heart sinks and you feel like your hearts broken like you just lost your first love, and it just really hurts."
Flashback to several years ago, Lemmond said Jeffcoat's step father James Holland started dating another one of his sisters.
"That's really why I didn't like him. I just begged Debi and begged Debi not to marry him because I already thought it was sick that he would go from one sister to another."
Lemmond said James was disliked by the family.
"He had that personification of a jerk, and he'd let you know you know, I'm an asshole and you know you didn't like him."
Lemmond said his sister, Debi, was using drugs.
"I was like 'hey you're dieting, what are you doing, are you exercising eating good,' and James told me she was using meth," Lemmond said.
According to Debi's arrest warrant, she told investigators James was the one shooting up meth.
"It's like when she met James, everything started going down hill," he said.
The warrant indicated Jeffcoat told a Lorenzo school employee she was pregnant by James Holland. She reportedly told another teacher James was going to take the baby out with a coat hanger.
"As big of an asshole I thought he was, I never thought anybody could be capable of doing something like that."
Lemmond said he is convinced James is responsible for his niece's murder.
"If he would not have got her pregnant, there would have been no reason for him to do that to kill her or have something to do with it," he said. "He got her pregnant, he was molesting her he didn't want anybody to find out so logically, yeah, it had to have been James."
But Lemmond said that doesn't mean his sister isn't at fault.
"I want to know why she could let this go on, I want to know what she was thinking in her head to make this right in her head," he said. "She's a monster right now, a straight up monster, just as bad as James."
He said he was going to visit Debi in jail, but after reading her arrest warrant he said he'd rather wait until she's in front of the judge.
"I want to face her in the courthouse."
James Holland is charged with Continuous Sexual Assault of a Child involving a different family member. Debi Holland is charged with Aggravated Sexual Assault. Neither have been charged with murder at this time.
Lemmond is holding a vigil in Holli's memory on May 10, which would have been her birthday.
The vigil will be held at the Wildcat Park in Idalou at 9:30 p.m.
