LISD Board of Trustee race still too close to call

Posted:

Elections are mostly over for Lubbock candidates, though one race is still close to call.

Lubbock ISD's District 1 Board of Trustees seat is still tight between Oralia "Lala" Chavez and Mario Ybarra, coming down to a two vote difference.

Lubbock County is still waiting to count a few more votes this week.

Lubbock County Elections Administrator Dorothy Kennedy said there are still military ballots outstanding, which have five days to come in, as well as provisional ballots.

By the end of the business day Friday, Lubbock County Elections Office should have finished counting those incoming votes.

If the vote is still close, either candidate can ask for a recount within 48 hours and will have to make a $4,000 deposit.
