Council considering contract to provide airport curbside attenda

City Council is set to consider a hand-off in duties for enforcing a new policy limiting curbside parking at the airport.

Since the rules went into effect in April, LPD officers have patrolled the area in front of the terminal.

Airport Director Kelly Campbell says that arrangement was temporary.

She says it was intended to help drivers get used to the new policies and keep passenger drop-off and pick-up stops in front of the airport as short as possible.

Council will vote on Thursday on amending the current contract with Republic Parking System  to provide curbside attendants who would replace police and monitor the street in front of the terminal.
