HUMID MORNING: We have fog around much of the South Plains. The visibility has been down below a couple miles in Lubbock. There aren't any organized showers...but at times there are some sprinkles or real light rain that may add up to a few hundredths of an inch. The temperature and the dew point are both in the mid 50s. There are showers and storms up in the Panhandle, north of I-40, moving east.
TODAY: It'll quickly dry out, becoming mostly sunny and breezy. High today in Lubbock near 87, wind S/SW 12-25mph. The dry line will be somewhere between the edge of the Caprock and U.S. 83 this afternoon. East of that boundary there could be a few storms in the humid air. But the atmosphere will be fairly capped, limiting storm potential. We'll also watch the potential for storms to move in from the north tonight and move across the Rolling Plains east of Lubbock.
?
COOLER DAYS: A cold front will move across the South Plains tomorrow morning. The wind will pick up a bit out of the northeast. Clouds will increase behind the front, tomorrow's high near 70. There is a slight chance for a few showers or storms tomorrow. The better chance is south of our area.
Wednesday will be even cooler with a better chance for showers and storms, high only in the mid 60s. We'll continue the chance for showers and storms into Thursday.
LATE WEEK: Friday will turn warmer and drier, back up in the 80s. Humidity will be in place this weekend leading to a slight chance for storms both Saturday and Sunday.
Have a great day. Rudy will update this forecast here later today.
