Early voting underway for primary run-off races

Posted:
LUBBOCK, Texas -

The early vote for a handful of primary election run-off races are underway.

Federal, state, and county primary races on the ballot after results from March elections.

If you voted in the March primary election, you can only cast a ballot for races in the same party you voted in then.

If you didn't vote in March, you can choose either party for this runoff.

"There are only five days of early voting," said Lubbock County Elections Administrator Dorothy Kennedy. "Most of our voters are used to 12 days. They do not have that for this election. And this election is paramount because it has our Congressional District 19 on it.  We've got two local elections going on so it's real important that everybody come out and vote."

Run-off elections include the Congressional District 19 seat, Republican Lubbock County Constable for Precinct 4, Republican and Democrat Railroad Commissioner, Republican Court of Criminal Appeals judge Place 2, and Republican Court of Criminal Appeals judge Place 5.

The polls are open from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. through Friday.
