A cold front moved through this morning setting us up with quite a temperature spread this afternoon. Our northwestern counties only warmed into the 50s while the central South Plains warmed into the upper 60s and the southern Rolling Plains warmed into the 80s. We also had a few showers move across the region, and while the rain was light for most of us, a few locations picked up about a half of an inch. Our rain chances continue tonight as we expect scattered showers and thunderstorms to move through overnight. A few spotty light showers could then continue through the day tomorrow until another round of rain will move through late tomorrow into early Thursday. Again, a few light showers could continue into Thursday afternoon before all of the rain exits off to the east of us going into Friday. While a few thunderstorms will certainly be possible over the next couple of days, we do not expect any severe storms, and overall this will mainly just be a much needed rain event. You can keep an eye on all of the rain with our Vipir Radar below.
With the cloudy and rainy conditions, temperatures will remain cool over the next few days. We will start off tomorrow morning in the upper 40s and then only warm by about ten degrees. Thursday morning will again be in the upper 40s and lower 50s while we only warm into the upper 60s in the afternoon. Keep in mind, the average high for tomorrow is 84 and the average high on Thursday is 85.
Sunshine will return on Friday with temperatures warming back into the 80s to end out the week. We will have another chance for storms at the beginning of next week as the dry line comes back into play. Early signs show the potential for strong storms on Sunday so it will be a weekend that you will want to stay weather aware.
I hope you had a great day! I will step you through the forecast tonight on the News at Nine and Matt will have a complete updated forecast for you tomorrow morning. -Rudy
