LUBBOCK, Texas -
Cyclists united Wednesday night in Lubbock as part of a worldwide campaign.
Ride of Silence, a procession of cyclists, honors those killed or injured on roads.
Participating cyclists were asked not to ride faster than 12 miles per hour and stay silent throughout the ride.
"We are encouraging drivers to honor and respect us and treat us like cars, but we must ask like cars and use the traffic signals appropriately as well," said West Texas Advocacy Director, Jill Booker.
The Lubbock ride began on the Tech campus and looped through the city. The intent - to remind motorists to share the road.
