Lanier named Mackenzie Middle School's first 'Distinguished Alum

Mackenzie Middle School recognized attorney and former student, Mark Lanier as the school's first Distinguished Alumni recipient Friday.

Lanier, a Texas Tech graduate, practices law in Houston with additional law offices in New York and California. He will serve as the keynote speaker at this year's commencement ceremony for Texas Tech University.

"Mark Lanier is a renowned and respected attorney," said Mackenzie principal John Martinez. "Due to his success in academics at the Texas Tech University School of Law and his success in law as an attorney, we feel he is an excellent role model for our Mackenzie students."

Lanier spoke to the students at the ceremony and was presented with a plaque and honored with the school song.
