LUBBOCK, Texas -
Fifth graders at Roscoe Wilson Elementary were given a crash course in electricity Friday.
It's the second year for Lubbock Power & Light's LISD Electricity Education Program. The presentation is given to fifth graders throughout the district in conjunction with their curriculum.
"What we're doing out here is trying to reinforce some of the things they've learned in their classrooms but also teach them about safety and have a little fun as well," said LP&L's Matt Rose. "So it's part educational and it's part showing them some of the cooler aspects of what electricity can do."
The program educates students on what LP&L does, the training of a lineman and the equipment they use, and what happens when every day items come in contact with electricity.
