STORMS LAST NIGHT: We got some pretty good rain around parts of the city last night. There also was some hail, most reports I've received on social media had about 1" diameter hail for a few minutes in the city. 0.11" of rain fell at the airport, while it was much more for most of the city. The radar-estimated totals on the map below suggest 1" or more in yellow. The actual ground-truth reports show 0.84" at Reese Center.

TODAY: We start with a mix of sun and clouds this morning, temperature in the 60s. There are showers and storms across SW Texas and more widespread storms over NW Oklahoma, SW Kansas and the TX and OK Panhandles. That batch of rain and storms is ahead of a front that stretches from North Dakota to southern Colorado. We have several factors coming together for more rain and storms, including upper-level support moving in from the west and that front moving across the area later tonight.
It won't rain at any one location all day long. But it is a pretty wide window for showers and storms. There may be some north of Lubbock later this morning. The better chance is here this afternoon through tonight. A few strong storms with hail are possible, like we saw last night, but it's not a pronounced severe weather risk. Heavy rain will be possible. High today near 82, but quite a bit cooler where the rain falls mid-day into the afternoon.
TONIGHT: Low near 60, more showers and storms are likely.
TOMORROW: It'll be cooler and mostly cloudy, high near 75.
EXTENDED FORECAST: The chance for rain and storms is lower Thursday, then more sun beginning Friday. The average high by this weekend is 89. It'll likely fall short of that mark. There are still some signs of a few storms at some point this weekend into early next week, but it's not a real strong signal in the guidance right now.
Have a great day. Look for the next forecast update from Rudy here later today.
