Man caught in LPD sting operation convicted for online solicitation of a minor

LUBBOCK, Texas -

A defendant was sentenced to 15 years in prison by Judge William Eichman for online solicitation of a minor for sex.

A jury convicted Jacob Matthew Bouloy, 28, Wednesday. The case involved a sting operation with an LPD detective posing online as a 14-year-old girl.

Prosecutor Aaron Moncibaiz says it sends a strong message.

"If you're going to go on the internet and prey on the children in our community, then there's going to be absolute punishment for that and the punishment's going to be severe," he said. "And it's not going to be tolerated in our community."

Moncibaiz says it's uncommon for a case of this nature to go to a jury trial.

He says detectives with the Juvenile Division and Internet Crimes Against Children Unit did everything "by the book."
