LUBBOCK, Texas -
A happy ending to a sad story circulating on social media.
Dog lovers were concerned about this pit bull, now named Gracie, after she was found abandoned, tied to a pole outside the old Lubbock Animal Shelter.
"We've been contacted through Saving Grace Pit Bull Rescue, which has helped us out numerous times. They will be fostering Gracie for us," said Director of Animal Services, George Torres. "They'll be picking her up later this afternoon and helping finding her a safe home."
Torres says the Animal Shelter sign was still up outside the old building, which may have caused confusion. The sign has now been removed.
Torres says if caught, Gracie's former owner could face misdemeanor charges for animal abandonment, animal cruelty or failure to provide adequate care.
