Some storms this morning, warm weekend ahead

Posted: Updated:

THIS MORNING: There are a few thunderstorms in our area. This is the southern extent of a bigger complex of storms that have been moving from SW Kansas to NW Oklahoma and the Texas Panhandle. Because these storms are fairly small here, the rainfall will be fairly limited. But if you do get a storm it'll bring brief heavy rain and some lightning.

The thunderstorms should diminish over the next few hours. Again, coverage will be fairly limited.

THIS AFTERNOON: It'll become mostly sunny and hot by later this afternoon, high near 94. Wind S/SE 10-20 mph. We can't rule out an isolated storm, but the rain chance will be low.

WEEKEND: It'll be mostly sunny and warm tomorrow, high near 93. The chance for a thunderstorm goes up a little, to 20%, late on Sunday. With more clouds it also won't be quite as hot, high near 90.

NEXT WEEK: We'll keep a slight chance for thunderstorms late Monday, lower chance Tuesday. Next week won't be as hot as this week, low to mid 90s each afternoon. It does look like late-day storms will again be possible late next week into next weekend.

Have a great day. Rudy will have a full update to your forecast here later today.
