LUBBOCK, Texas -
Texas Comfort Dogs, Phoebe and Pax, visited Lubbock Friday, joining the Lutheran Women's Missionary League Convention.
The dogs form part of the National Saint Paul Lutheran K-9 Comfort Dog Program that sent golden retrievers to Orlando after the mass shooting.
Phoebe, along with 11 other dogs from six other states traveled to Florida for a week to serve the community recovering from the pulse night club massacre.
"We were in a conference room in the medical examiners office and they come in they were very quiet entering the room and we were there a good 30 minutes and before we left they were actually laughing and talking to one another," said Janice Marut, coordinator of the program. "That's all it caused. Just to love on the dogs, to love their warm fur and to be unconditionally listened to."
Phoebe and Pax are the only St. Paul Lutheran comfort dogs in the state.
