LUBBOCK, Texas -
A man is in the Lubbock County Detention Center, facing multiple charges after police say he punched and kicked officers early Saturday.
According to LPD, officers were called to the Whataburger at 19th Street and Avenue Q because of a man who was threatening customers and staff. The first officer on-scene found Eliseo Padilla, III, 30, arguing with a security guard.
According to the police report, Padilla refused to calm down and wouldn’t keep his hands out of his pockets. When the officer tried a pat-down for weapons the suspect punched him in the face. Other responding officers tried to use a Taser but it didn’t take down the suspect.
Police eventually arrested Padilla. He’s charged with assault on a police officer, resisting arrest and other charges.
The first responding officer was taken to the hospital. The other two officers were treated on-scene.
