Severe thunderstorm watch for eastern half of region until 3am

9:15 Update: A severe thunderstorm watch has been issued for Cottle, Crosby, Dickens, Floyd, Garza, Hall, Kent, Lynn and Motley counties until 3am. A complex of storms is moving south/southwest out of Oklahoma and is expected to move across the eastern half of the region. The main concern with these storms is strong wind gusts between 50-70 mph. You can keep an eye on the storms with the live stream of our Vipir radar which you can find in the original blog post below.

Much like yesterday we had a few isolated showers and weak thunderstorms form this afternoon. These will all end this evening and then we should stay rain free the rest of the workweek. Click here for a look at the 24 hour rainfall totals from the West Texas Mesonet sites and click here for a breakdown of all the rainfall totals from the past 96 hours. You can keep an eye on the last few showers out there with the live stream of our Vipir radar by clicking here or by looking at the still image below.

Temperatures will top out in the mid 90s the rest of the week with sunny conditions. Storm chances return on Saturday and continue each day through the middle of next week. While we will have a chance for storms each day over the holiday weekend, coverage will be much like it has been over the past few days. This means many locations will likely completely miss out on the rain and where storms do form they should not last very long.

I hope you had a great day! I will step you through the forecast tonight on the News at Nine and Christopher will have a complete updated forecast for you tomorrow morning. -Rudy
