Facebook launches new reaction emojis

Posted:

Facebook gave itself a face lift and users might "like" it. The social media site adding 5 emojis for people to express themselves.

Allison Matherly, Tech's social media coordinator, says the change is Facebook's answer to the highly sought-after dislike button and gives businesses a better way to communicate with their audience.

"I think Facebook by introducing this really provides interesting options to businesses through Facebook pages as well," Matherly said. "Simply because now as an administrator of a page you can see not only that somebody likes something, but did they love it...did they, were they surprised by it? Or did that like actually mean more of a 'i'm not happy about this. And so it provides more information and can really allow for these admins of these businesses to decide how to handle their audience and try to communicate with them in the best way possible."

Facebook CEO, Mark Zuckerberg says the new features allow users to share a wider range of emotions. Now instead of just a thumbs up, users can respond with "love", "ha-ha", "wow", "sad" and "angry".
