Average Lubbock voter older this cycle

Early voting for the primaries is coming to an end and all that is left is election day on Tuesday.

Numbers from early voting appear to be average however Lubbock pollster, Mike Stevens, said that those numbers tell a story.

"Normally a primary will bring about a younger voter," said Stevens. So the average age of a voter would be around 55 in normal cases and you'll see it about 50.4. So are those younger voters undecided and haven't voted yet or is this going to be a little bit of an older voter? You know, the jury is still out on that one but so far the voter is just a little older."

Stevens predicts the turnout on Tuesday will be significant because many voters are still pondering on who to vote for and are waiting until the last minute to make their choice.

"If you look at the presidential primary season, its just been heavily reported on, I think there is more information than there has ever been before," he said. "You know, Jeb Bush, a Texan just getting out of the race might leave people a bit more undecided about where that vote gets cast and so I think that they are just waiting for this thing to play out as long as they can."

Stevens expects the younger voters to show up on election day.
