Thousands of dollars raised by a Lubbock restaurant will go toward a 9-year-old boy injured in a golf cart mishap in July.

Curtis Jordan, owner of Teddy Jack's Hub City Grill presenting Luke Siegel's family with $5,000 from a week-long fundraising event in January.

Jordan says its success is a testimony to the continuing support for Luke throughout the community.

"It was such a tragedy and we just felt like it was one of those things...that it was local people, local family, a great family. and we felt like, you know, we look at Lubbock as our family too in the community," Jordan said.

"We were told that based on his MRI he would never use his legs, never speak, never open his eyes," said Luke's father, Tim Siegel, "And he's done all three. He's a fighter."

Siegel says his son will have a stem cell blood infusion at Duke at the end of April and will have more surgery in May or June.
