Pope wins 3-point majority to take mayoral race

Posted: Updated:
LUBBOCK, Texas -

Dan Pope will be Lubbock's next mayor, after receiving 53 percent of the vote in that race. Four candidates competed to replace outgoing Mayor Glen Robertson, who is in a runoff with Jodey Arrington for Congressional District 19. The next highest vote was Todd Klein's supporters, with about 32 percent.

Pope was also the highest spender in the municipal election, with more than $107,000 documented in campaign expenditures.  Robertson will hold his office until the results are certified by the city government.
