'Smooth sailing,' for STAAR testing this time around, LISD says

No technical problems were reported locally so far in the latest round of STAAR testing, according to Lubbock Independent School District.

Elementary and middle school students are taking the state mandated standardized tests this week.

In March a computer glitch impacted some 14,000 students statewide, including some in Lubbock ISD, who were taking an online version of the test.

Pam Leftwich with LISD says that, and other problems, have not happened this time.

"We've really had smooth sailing in all the campuses," Leftwich said. "In the past, in March, the issues that we had involved not being able to contact ETS, being put on hold, not getting answers to our questions. They have really resolved that this time."

She encourages students to get a good night's sleep and eat a good breakfast to help them do their best during testing.
