How to register your storm shelter to aid search and rescue after severe weather

LUBBOCK, Texas -

Emergency management coordinators encourage home and business owners to register the location of their storm shelters in order to help first responders during search and rescue operations.

The information will be mapped and used to help first responders locate anyone who may be trapped in a shelter due to debris after a tornado or a severe storm.

The City of Lubbock and the county have separate registries.
