Second and final vote expected Thursday on ride-hailing business regulations

Posted:
LUBBOCK, Texas -

A second and final vote is expected Thursday for City Council to make changes to the local transportation ordinance.

Ride-hailing business regulations proposed would put companies like Uber under the same rules as taxi and limo services.

Councilwoman Karen Gibson says representatives of Uber have indicated they are on board with the changes.

The proposed regulations would require drivers to undergo background checks, something Uber already performs.

The local ordinance does not include fingerprint checks.
