Mayor given the green light to execute 'Click it or Ticket' grant

LUBBOCK, Texas -

City Council voted to allow the mayor to execute a state administered, federally funded grant agreement for TxDOT's "Click it or Ticket" campaign.

The grant was is just shy of $10,000. The traffic enforcement program emphasizes the importance of seat belt and child restraint compliance from May 23 to June 8.

According to TxDOT, 889 people died last year and more than 1,800 more were seriously injured in mishaps on Texas roadways because they were not wearing seat belts.
