Drivers urged to be cautious of firefighters during 'Fill the Boot' campaign

Posted:
LUBBOCK, Texas -

The Lubbock Fire Department is kicking off its annual Fill the Boot campaign aimed at raising funds for the Muscular Dystrophy Association.

The funds help provide services to kids with muscular dystrophy and even send them to summer camp for free.

Firefighters will be at three intersections across town -- Slide Road and South Loop, 50th Street and Indiana Avenue, and South Loop and University.

"We need to make sure that when you are coming up to the intersection, just to slow down even if its green," said Taysha Williams with the Muscular Dystrophy Association. "Just slow down and watch out for them. Be respectful of them out there. They're going to try and get out of your way as best they can, but they're doing a really good thing, so if just for these next three days just be cautious."

The campaign goes through Saturday.
