Thistledew Lavender Farm was started in 2005 after the owners, Danny and Laurie Davis took a trip to Washington visit their son, who was stationed at Ft.Lewis. Laurie purchased a lavender tea bag and wondered if there was a way to grow lavender in West Texas. The Davis' started researching different varieties of lavender and learning how others grow it, even though everyone told them lavender can't grow in West Texas. In 2011 the first 400 lavender plants were planted and the farm has expanded to more than 2,500 plants.
Danny and Laurie said Thistledew is a family operation that has bloomed into making others just as happy as it makes them. Thistledew offers tours for people to come and enjoy the flowers.
Each year before the harvest the farm opens its gate and welcomes all for its annual Open House. Open House will be Saturday, May 28th and Saturday, June 4th from 10 a.m. to whenever you're ready to leave.
If you can't make it out to Dickens to enjoy Open House, you can find Thistledew Lavender Farms products at local farmers markets. Laurie and Danny sell everything from lavender body butters to lavender linen spray.
