LEVELLAND, Texas -
A Levelland Independent School District employee has resigned following allegations of possible inappropriate electronic communication with a student, according to a press release.
Levelland ISD was made aware of the allegations May 17, placing the employee on paid administrative leave, and the employee reportedly resigned the next day. The district reported the circumstances of the employee's resignation to local and state law enforcement, as well as the State Board of Educator Certification, according to the release.
The district reports it will continue to cooperate with law enforcement and educator licensing agencies in any ongoing or future investigations.
"Student safety and welfare are of paramount importance to the District, and all required actions and notifications concerning this matter have been completed by the District," the release states. "Due to state and federal privacy laws, however, there will be no further information regarding this matter released by the District."
