LUBBOCK, Texas -
For the first time Texas is allowing the sale of fireworks for Memorial Day.
Last session the Legislature allowed for county governments to give permission. The Lubbock County Commissioners approved that earlier this month. Before that you could only buy them for Independence Day and News Years.
Firework vendors say they are looking forward to the extra few days of much-needed sales.
"Usually New Year's is kinda slow," said Pop's Fireworks owner Brian Coulombe. "The 4th of July is, of course, very good. So far it's been between the two, actually, middle of the road. I was kind of surprised. It's been pretty good so far."
Now remember, you cannot shoot fireworks inside Lubbock's city limits.
State lawmakers also approved more sales for Texas Independence Day in March and San Jacinto Day in April.
