LUBBOCK, Texas -
A Lubbock man died Monday night after his vehicle hydroplaned on Interstate 27, seven miles north of Hale Center, according to the Department of Public Safety.
Troopers report Fernando Juares, 43, was southbound on I-27 when he lost control of his 2005 Cadillac and reportedly collided with another driver heading northbound. He was pronounced dead at the scene. The other driver, Eli Gonzales, 22, a resident of Plainview, was uninjured, according to DPS.
Gonzales' passenger, Joshua Calderon, 26, of Plainview, was transported to a Lubbock hospital with unknown injuries.
DPS reports all occupants were wearing seat belts and the crash is still under investigation.
