Showers end overnight, another round of storms Thursday

Heavy rain moved across the region today leading to some severe flooding. The flooding led to many cars being stranded, street closures and some businesses closing. Click here for a look at the 24 hour rainfall totals from the West Texas Mesonet sites and click here for a breakdown of all the rainfall totals from the past 96 hours. The rain will end overnight with the exception of perhaps a few light showers, or some drizzle and fog. You can keep an eye on all the storms with our Vipir radar live stream by clicking here or by looking at the still image below.

Another round of scattered showers and thunderstorms is possible tomorrow. We could again see some heavy rain at times and even if the rain is not as heavy as it was today, with all the rainfall we have received lately, it is likely that we will be dealing with some more flooding. Travel is discouraged in areas where it is raining tomorrow and if you have to drive anywhere, remember to never drive into a flooded road. Temperatures will be cool again, starting off the day in the 50s and only warming into the upper 60s and lower 70s.

We will start to clear out on Friday with perhaps just a few showers across the Rolling Plains. With more sunshine in the afternoon we should warm to around 80 degrees. Mostly sunny conditions return this weekend with temperatures warming back into the mid 80s. We will have sunny and quiet conditions for the first half of next week with temperatures warming into the upper 80s and lower 90s.

I will step you through the forecast tonight on the News at Nine and Matt will have a complete updated forecast for you tomorrow morning. -Rudy
