MAJOR FLOODING: The good news is most of the area didn't get much more rain last night into early this morning. Parts of southwest Lubbock picked up as much as five to seven inches of rain yesterday. Christopher Adams has a look at the major flooding here. Though the water receded, it won't take much more to cause more flooding today.

THIS MORNING: There are a few showers pinwheeling around the South Plains. Like yesterday, showers over the northern part of the are are moving from east to west, with rain over the southern part of our area moving from west to east. This is a sign of the low pressure center spinning in the region.
TODAY: You can expect more showers and storms around the area. The greatest coverage of rain should be east, off of the Caprock. We don't know specifically where storms will move, but if any of the flooded areas get another storm you can expect the water to again rise. There isn't a flood watch in place because the overall coverage of more flooding shouldn't be great. But be aware there is a risk for flooding where storms develop.
It'll stay cloudy and cool, high today near 72. There may at times be a few breaks in the clouds. Wind NE 5-15mph.
TONIGHT: Rain should come to an end. It'll be cloudy, possibly some fog in the morning, low near 56.
WARMER DAYS: Upper-level high pressure will move this way this weekend, which will lead to more sun. It should turn mostly sunny by mid-day tomorrow. There could be a few isolated showers wrapping into our area, but the much better chance will be well east and southeast of here. Tomorrow's high will be near 80, back to the lower to mid 80s this weekend. There could be a few isolated showers or storms this weekend, but that chance is low.
NEXT WEEK: It'll get warmer. It'll also probably be muggy over the spots that got all the rain this week, as that water evaporates. It'll be up near 90 by middle of next week.
Have a great day. Look for updates here, Rudy will have a full forecast update later today.
