LUBBOCK, Texas -
Representatives from the U.S. Small Business Administration joined members of the Texas Veteran's Commission in an effort to connect women veterans with much-needed resources.
The three-day event, "Roll Call: Life beyond the oath," began Thursday. The goal is to connect women vets with different resources in their community.
"Women veterans are such a tiny percent of the population, less than once percent of the American population is veterans," said Edith Disler with the Texas Veteran's Commission. "Less than ten percent of that one percent are women veterans, and because we are a small segment in the military we have special experiences that we understand."
Texas has the largest population of women veterans in the country.
