Texas Tech Advances To Super Regionals

Posted:

The Red Raider baseball team defeated Dallas Baptist 5-3 in its final NCAA Regional game to advance to the Super Regionals. It marks the second time Texas Tech has advanced to the Super Regionals in three seasons.

After getting out to an early 1-0 lead in the bottom of the first, the Red Raiders surrendered their advantage to the Patriots in the top of the third inning. The game was not tied long though, as Double T answered with runs in the third and fourth innings to take a 3-1 lead.

DBU instilled the Red Raider faithful with some uneasiness after tying the game on a two-run home run in the top of the sixth. A loss would have eliminated Double T from the NCAA Tournament.

However, once again, the Matadors responded quickly with a two-RBI double from Orlando Garcia in the bottom half of the frame to put the score at 5-3 in Tech's favor. Hayden Howard closed out the contest on the mound, tossing the final 4.2 innings to pick up the save.

Tech will now host East Carolina in the Super Regional later this week in a best-of-three series. The winner will advance to the College World Series in Omaha. Game dates and times have not been announced.
