LUBBOCK, Texas -
The Texas 4000 team, a group of 67 cyclists, rolled into Lubbock from Austin on their way to Anchorage, Alaska.
This is the 13th annual ride benefiting cancer research, raising $485,000 this year.
On the 4,000-mile bicycle journey, they will visit with cancer survivors, patients, caregivers, and communities to spread hope.
"Riding a bike more than 4,000 miles is not easy," said Texas 4000 riding director Matthew Schneider , "but neither is battling a disease like cancer; and we have some wonderful cancer survivors on our team. We've met a lot of cancer survivors and our struggles don't compare to theirs, but it allows us to empathize."
The riders have raised almost $7 million to date.
