LUBBOCK, Texas -
Covenant Women's and Children's Hospital hosted the 30th annual neonatal intensive care unit reunion Saturday morning.
Children that have received NICU care gave staff a chance to see how the children have grown since their stays in the hospital. Neonatologist Andy Bowman said the event is a time to catch up with the families he grew close to.
"It's great to get a chance to see the products of your efforts and how good they are doing," Bowman said.
He said hard and trying times established unique bonds.
"When you have those kind of times, you really build relationships and bonds that are not easily understood by people who haven't been through it," Bowman said, "and so it's good to have that shared experienced and come back and remember it and see all those scary times are worth it."
Bowman added the biggest motivation is the children.
