Texas Tech wins Super Regional game 2 over E. Carolina

The Red Raiders evened their series against East Carolina Saturday, forcing a game 3 to be played on Sunday.

Texas Tech took the early lead in the fourth inning when 2B Michael Davis singled to short, bringing LF Tyler Neslony home, putting the Red Raiders up 1-0. East Carolina responded in the bottom of the seventh as C Travis Watkins hit an in-field fly, allowing 2B Charlie Yorgen to score and tie the game.

There was a controversial call in the top of the ninth; instant replay shows Tanner Gardner with his hand under the tag for the winning run, but was called out, leading to extra innings.

The next four innings were scoreless, until Big 12 Player of the Year Eric Gutierrez singled up the middle with bases loaded, bringing in two RBI's for the 3-1 lead. P Robert Dugger, who came in earlier in the came to take over for P Ryan Moseley, was able to keep East Carolina off the board in the bottom of the 13th. 

First pitch for game three is set for 2 p.m. Sunday at Dan Law Field.
