WASHINGTON (AP) - Senate Democrats say they will try forcing a vote on making it harder for suspected terrorists or people on government terror watch lists to buy guns.
Top Democrats told reporters of their plans Monday, a day after a gunman who'd twice come to FBI attention attacked an Orlando nightclub, killing 49 and wounding over 50 others.
Democrats said they'd offer the same legislation by California Democratic Sen. Dianne Feinstein rejected by the Senate last December. It would let the government block guns sales to those on terrorism watch lists or whom it suspects of possible terror activities.
The vote could come this week.
Last December, a Republican plan offered by Texas Republican Sen. John Cornyn also fell short in the Senate. It would have given the government up to 72 hours to block such a sale by proving in court probable cause to do so.
