Sunny and hot rest of the week

10:30 Update: All of the storms have exited the region and we will stay rain free the rest of the night. Get the rest of the detailed forecast in the original blog post below.

7:00PM Update: A tornado watch has been issued for the Texas Panhandle and does include some of our northern most counties (Parmer, Castro, Swisher and Briscoe). The watch is in effect until 2 am. Most of the storms will stay to the north of us across the Panhandle, but a few could move into our northern counties. The main concern will be large hail and strong wind gusts, but we cannot rule out a few isolated tornadoes as well. You can find a live stream of our Vipir radar plus the rest of the forecast in the original blog post below.

It was a warm start to the week with temperatures topping out in the low to mid 90s for most of us this afternoon. We had a few clouds start to build up this afternoon and isolated showers and thunderstorms are possible this evening. You can keep an eye on the potential storms with the live stream of our Vipir radar by clicking here or by looking at the still image of the radar below.

The coverage of the storms this evening should be spotty and any storms we do see will end overnight. We will have another slight chance for storms on Wednesday and much like this evening the coverage will be isolated. Other than those slight chances for storms we will have sunny conditions each afternoon with temperatures warming to around 100 after starting off each morning around 70. The sunny and hot conditions are all due to a strong high pressure system that will build in across the region. This will stick around until at least the first half of next week.

I hope you had a good start to the week! I will have an update on the potential storms this evening, plus step you through the rest of the forecast tonight on the News at Nine and Matt will have a complete updated forecast for you tomorrow morning.  -Rudy
