Livesay receives 5 years in daughter's drowning death

LUBBOCK, Texas -

A Lubbock man was sentenced to five years in the Texas Department of Corrections with time-served for his role in the drowning death of his infant daughter.

Michael Livesay pleaded guilty Tuesday to injury to child reckless endangerment, a second degree felony.

Police reports filed with the warrant indicate Livesay told investigators he put his 3-month-old daughter, Vera, into her bath seat in the tub, then left the room and fell asleep for about 15 minutes before realizing he left the child in the tub with the water running.

According to police, Livesay says he went into the bathroom, saw Vera face-down in the tub and called 911 while giving her CPR. She died at the hospital.
